I have a PS4 Slim, and here is the solution: You need to start the game and then disable your internet connection at the title screen. After that, you’ll be able to select your character.
It’s crazy, but the game seems to constantly need you to toggle the internet on and off just to run. It’s the only method I’ve found to make the game work, but I guess someone will eventually figure out what’s wrong with the PKG file.
